Does your software use metric or imperial units of measure?
The answer is neither, our software makes no assumptions as to the users requirements. You define your own units of measure. We have placed no limitations on the user when it comes to defining such areas as grape varieties, debtors, creditors, fruit growers, stock items etc; the only limitation is your hard disks storage capacity.
Can I have the software customised further?
Yes, we can customise the system to meet your requirements. As a matter of fact we do not charge you at all for any modifications, provided you pay the support fees (annual support fee is calculated at 20% of purchase price).
What support do you provide?
There are 25 full-time qualified staff specifically supporting vineyard and winery clients only. We capture all your reference data (such as suppliers, stock, employees, tanks, vineyard blocks, balances, etc) prior to the installation and provide 3 days on site training at no extra cost. On-going support includes a 8:30am to 5:30pm help desk, after hours phone support, email, remote modem access, on site training, regional training seminars and in-house training. There is also a knowledge base on the web, training notes and online help.
Can we customise the system?
You can customise the menu option names, prompt messages, report column headings and UOM to meet your terminology and/or language. There are also 100's of system parameters that determine how the system appears and functions.
How integrated are the modules?
EzyWine encompasses vineyard management, weighbridge operations, cellar management, bottling, plant servicing, payroll, marketing, sales, purchasing, warehouse management, asset register, etc. These modules are integrated in regards to stock control, costing, planning and financial postings. The integration between the modules is seamless and removes the double handling associated with using multiple packages.
Can user access be restricted?
There are several administration options that allow you to define a user’s access and streamline operations;

Is it a windows based package?
The software has been developed using Microsoft Visual FoxPro and SQL. It is a windows based product and it supports both mouse and keyboard navigation. The visual feel of the system can be customised and there are many advanced GUI features such as the vineyard, cellar and warehouse maps. The report writers and stationery designer (for sales invoices, etc) allow font types and images to be incorporated.
Does it accommodate warehouse management?
You can define every bay and its capacity, and the bays can be grouped by warehouse location. This provides for lot tracking and sales can be performed by warehouse with the system using a formula to determine the sequence in which the bays are depleted. A visual representation of the warehouse is also available.
Can you blend wines across winery sites?
The system includes a flexible report writer allowing tanks at different winery sites (and companies) to be easily blended and full composition reporting.
Can we request enhancements?
Clients may submit system change requests for consideration. Every 6 months every client receives approximately 200 changes at no extra cost. Changes from all over the world are made available to all clients with the 6 monthly upgrade.
How easily is it to manage barrels?
There are many special functions that make barrel handling quick and easy. Barrels can be quickly selected based on vessel type, vessel group, wine code and wine batch. A racking operation can be reversed so that the source vessels become the destination vessels when returning wine back to the same barrels. A barcode scanner can be utilised to capture barrels and a visual presentation of the cellar is also available. Barrel attributes can be defined allowing composition and time spent by attribute (such as cooper and toast) to be reported.
What is the difference between EzyWine and EzyWine Enterprise?
EzyWine uses Microsoft Visual FoxPro databases , whereas the Enterprise version is SQL based and is suited to wineries processing large volumes of data. The Enterprise clients include Casells Wines (Yellow Tail) and McGuigan Simeon (Black Label). These sites as well as DGB (South Africa) and Peter Lehmann have an IT department with SQL administration expertise.
How flexible is the reporting?
There are 1,000s of standard reports that can be generated. There are several report writers that allow you to specify font types, size, colour and include images (such as company logo). There are also export options that produce DBF, CSV and TEXT files for further reporting manipulation using third party products such as Cognos, Crystal, MS Access and Excel.
What happens when there are statutory changes?
When there are changes to tax rates you can change them yourself. We have a close relationship with the tax office and other regulatory authorities and implement new rules prior to them coming into effect.
